Pontiac Makes Ideal Funeral Cars

May 01, 2009 | | Comments 0

funeral transportationLast week, General Motors announced that it would not be producing any Pontiac brand automobiles after the 2010 model season. For some car enthusiasts, that was bad news.

One funeral director in Ohio – Lee Hadley – is going to miss the Pontiac brand. He owns six 1957 Pontiac models and three of them are funeral cars. Hadley has loved Pontiac cars since he was a kid as it was the brand of choice for his father’s funeral home business. ”

“When I was in high school our Dad made a deal that if we came through college without smoking or drinking he would buy us a car,” Hadley reminisced. “So he bought me a 1957 Pontiac Star Chief convertible.” Hadley was so in love with that car that he purchased another one just like it after totaling the one that his dad bought for him.

About the recent announcement from GM to discontinue the Pontiac brand, Hadley had this to say: “I don’t like it. Pontiac has always been a good vehicle. Now it will be an orphan car.”

Do you have any thoughts about the Pontiac brand or GM’s decision to discontinue it? If so, let us know below. Whether they were used as funeral cars, muscle cars or just as convenient family cars, there are many people who will miss the Pontiac name.
