Funeral Cars Arrive Without Flowers

April 03, 2009 | | Comments 0

funeral limousine dealerI used to deliver flowers for a living. As part of my job, I took probably hundreds of flowers to funeral homes each week to decorate the rooms where the families mourned the death of their loved ones. Once the funeral was over, the funeral directors would put the flowers in the back of the funeral cars and hearses and take them to the burial site for the service. That seems like a simple process, but mistakes do happen.

This mistake over funeral flowers caused a huge uproar with one family, though. When the body of their loved one arrived at the cremation site without flowers in the funeral cars, the family was livid. “I ordered and paid [money] for the flowers a week beforehand and the funeral took place at 9:45 a.m. on Monday, said Andrea Korpics, the deceased’s granddaughter. “My mum and I were waiting for the hearse and when it turned up it just looked so bare, as we had only asked for family flowers.” She went on to describe the embarrassment that the lack of funeral flowers caused and she said she “couldn’t even concentrate on what was going on” because of the mistake.

The flower shop has already refunded the money to the family. All I can say is it must have been a slow news day in this part of the UK for a story like this to make the papers.
